The Light House is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing shelter, food, clothing and job training to homeless individuals and families and those who are at risk of becoming homeless. We depend on the continued financial support and volunteer contributions from many private citizens, members of the faith-based community, business partners, government agencies and a separate 501 (C )(3) organization, Friends of the Light House Shelter who support the Light House through fundraising events..
The Light HouseThe Light House has the capacity to house 45 individuals and five families, providing food and shelter and perhaps more importantly, life-changing programs that help clients reclaim hope and independence in their lives. We manage transitional housing for families and permanent supportive housing for women. The Light House also supports the City's commitment that no one freeze on the streets during severe weather with our Annapolis Winter Shelter program. We are a case management-centered model with needs assessment, client service plans, on-site programs and professional referral proccesses in place. Our belief is that with the love and compassion of staff and volunteers we can make a huge difference in the lives of so many. Being homeless can destroy people, tear families apart and wreck communities. Of those homeless clients who work with the Light House program, 75% leave empowered with a job or income, a place to live, and the hope of an independent life. The Light House works! Now that we are settled into our new home, we need your support now more than ever. With the uncertain economy and high unemployment rates, more individuals and families have been displaced. The Light House's new larger capacity of being able to serve three times as many individuals and families could not have arrived at a more critical time.
