Assistance to the Needy: Financial, Groceries and Bag Lunches, Health Kits
This describes services available to the needy.
Financial Assistance:(Eviction prevention, utility turn-off prevention)
Assistance Provided: We offer assistance towards eviction and gas/electric turn-off prevention. We do not assist with security deposits, oil, water, cable, or telephone bills. Utilities must be on to qualify for assistance. We cannot assist with the Housing Authority's Notice of Termination because this must be handled through the court system. On the day assistance is offered: --doors open at 9 a.m. (we typically run out of funds within two hours) --please do not stand in front of the building until 8:55 a.m.

Dates for Financial Assistance: Assistance is offered the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month.
Eligibility Requirements: --an individual is eligible to receive assistance once every six months --must bring gas and electric turn-off notice or eviction notice, summons to court, or warrant of restitution
Bag Lunches: The bag lunch program was developed to provide the needy with a good lunch on a first-come first-served basis during weekdays at The Light House.

Number given: One per person or two per family
Time: 11am - 1pm/Monday - Friday (lunches are not available on the weekends)
Restrictions: --during the school year, lunches are not provided to children --during the summer, children must be accompanied by an adult to receive a lunch
How to donate bag lunches: please call Light House to schedule a date: 410-263-1835
Number needed: make 20-30 lunches (any amount is appreciated)
Bag items: bag lunch (brown paper bags or plastic are acceptable) typically consists of a sandwich: peanut butter & jelly or tuna, sweet: candy or cookies, snack bag (chips or pretzels), fruit (apple or orange), drink is optional but very much appreciated.
Pantry: The pantry provides emergency food and other grocery items to people in the community. Health kits, baby food, diapers and other personal care items are available as well.
How to receive: Present yourself at The Light House
Number given: One per family; only one bag can be received every 30 days
Time: 9am - 3pm/Monday - Friday (pantry is not available on the weekends)
Eligibility Requirements: --a picture ID --two pieces of mail, no more than 30 days old
Health Kit Program: The health kit program supports the needy on an as requested basis.

Health kits: travel or regular sized toothbrush, toothpaste, bar of soap, deodorant, washcloth. No mouthwash please.
