Meet Our Executive Director
The Light House is pleased to announce the appointment of Tyra Parker for the position of Executive Director. Tyra brings more than 20 years of nonprofit and corporate management experience to her important leadership role here with us. Throughout her career, she has used her skills and experience to develop, establish, and oversee a variety of programs that benefit the homeless and working poor. Her efforts have included everything from launching and directing operations of emergency homeless shelters, transitional housing, permanent supportive housing, and crisis intervention, to working one-on-one with people in need on the streets of skid row.
Most recently from the Weinberg Housing and Resource Center in Baltimore, Tyra is gifted in the areas of stewardship, management, and mission-focused leadership. She has more than fifteen years of experience in operational management of nonprofit organizations addressing the needs of poor and homeless communities. As Director of the Weinberg Housing and Resource Center, she reduced operational costs by $500,000 in less than six-months, managed a $3.5 million dollar budget, and directed the daily operations of the facility which provides low barrier homeless services to over 400 homeless men, women, and children each day.
Tyra's warmth, vision, and commitment to our mission made her a stand-out candidate from the many qualified applicants the Search Committee considered. On behalf of the Board, staff and leadership team of The Light House, we are thrilled to welcome Tyra as our new Executive Director.
